Allander is the captain of the privateering vessel the 'Nellis', he is a stoic and reserved man who seeks to do things the right way if he can and always puts the wellbeing of his crew ahead of profit or glory. Pragmatic and calm he is contrasted harshly by his first mate, who holds the fire and passion of his crew.
